Evangelion Will (Not) Be 6 Hours Long
The Longest Evangelion Film Yet
You probably heard a few months ago that Evangelion 3.0+1.0 is going to be almost 6 hours long. That rumor was debunked rather fast, but Evangelion fans are a special bunch. The concept of a 6 hour Evangelion film has many of us salivating at sitting in the theater that long. It also has many fans concerned. Fret not for the now believed theatrical length of the fourth and (hopefully) final Rebuild of Evangelion film will feature a run time of 2 hours and 34 minutes.
Posted on and now removed from the Japanese ratings board, Eirin, and found via Impress.co.jp, we now can rest easy that we won’t be stuck in the theater watching Shinji pilot the robot for a fourth of a day. The 2 hour and 34 minute runtime is, according to Impress.co.jp, the longest runtime for any Evangelion theatrical release.
End of Evangelion clocks in the shortest at a cool 1 hour and 27 minutes. Each of the Rebuild films are progressively longer. The first comes to 1 hour 41 minutes. The second at 1 hour 48 minutes. While shorter than the rest, Evangelion 3.0, is just shy of the first two at 1 hour 36 minutes. Evangelion 3.0+1.0 is going to run almost an hour longer than any of its preceding films. The runtime is comparable to a blockbuster Marvel film. Avengers: Infinity War runs 2 hours 29 minutes.
Fans looking for some finality with Neon Genesis Evangelion will have to continue to wait. No new release date since the delay from January 23rd is announced. We will continue to wait until then.
