Its happening. The next and final movie in the long awaited saga is happening. The twitter account @evangelion_co which is the official account, tweeted out a picture of the script. We now know they have actually put pen to paper. Here is the tweet from the Japanese account –

Exciting times are ahead for Evangelion fans. Netflix is releasing the original series later this spring. Following that is this movie. It is scheduled for 2020, and if they are just getting to the voice acting now, it sounds like we are on target.
