New Year, New Crunchyroll Price Increase
Fan Tier prices go up 25% for a monthly subscription.
The anime streaming service has put forth the latest jump in cost for their three main tiers of service, as well as the changes in the per tier offerings. First up is the new cost structure –
Fan Tier will increase from $7.99/month to $9.99/month.

Mega Fan Tier will increase from $11.99/month to $13.99/month.
Ultimate Fan Tier will increase from $15.99/month to $17.99/month.
This is the first increase of the Fan Tier pricing since March of 2019 when Crunchyroll increased the price from $6.95 to the $7.99 price point. The new $9.99/month marks a +25% increase in monthly cost.
The new price does come with at least one added perk – offline viewing. Previously, users on the Fan Tier could not access offline content, and were required to upgrade to at least the Mega Fan Tier before accessing your favorite show without an internet connection. It is a great feature for folks who regularly travel or have a spotty internet connection on their morning commute. Hidden in the details is the lack of HD in Fan Tier offline viewing.
For offline HD viewing, you will need to go one level up in your fandom and subscribe at the Mega Fan tier, now at $13.99/month. This is a comparably modest +16% increase over the $11.99/month we have enjoyed since the last increase in 2024. According to the release, Crunchyroll is not offering anything new for fans at this tier or the next – Ultimate Fan Tier.
The Ultimate Fan Tier at least comes with access to Crunchyroll Manga, which is not new per this price increase, but more recent than the 2024 price update. Going from $15.99 to $17.99/month represents the smallest percentage jump at only a 12% increase.
There is not a lot of new and exciting features being announced here from Crunchyroll, and largely feels like the inevitable price increase to keep up with growing costs. In fairness to the service, it has been nearly 7 years since the last price increase at the Fan Tier, but you do expect better service to come with a 25% bump to the cost.
